We are launching our Easter festivities this year with our popular annual egg decorating event. Last year we welcomed some very creative entries with lots of different themes. There will be 4 categories this year:
EYFS for reception and nursery children
KS1 for those in Y1 and Y2
KS2 for those in Y3, Y4 and Y5
Adult competition – for all those adults desperate to have a go!
When judging we always give consideration to the eggs which appear to be completed by the children with little or no adult support. Please put your egg into the adult category if you feel you have done more than your child on it! Closing date for eggs in the competition is Monday the 3rd April. 50p per entry towards the cost of Easter Egg prizes.
We also have the opportunity for all age groups to decorate and/or create their own Easter themed hat. Please bring hats in on the last day. Children will be given the opportunity to wear their hats for achievement assembly on the last day of term and for lunchtime that day.
Every other year we host a Tenebrae experience for the children where we recreate aspects of the Christian Easter story. This will take place next year when we hope to harness the creativity of the Year 5 and Year 6 pupils so that we can support their next steps.
Cramlington inter-schools hockey tournament
Year 5 represented CVPS very well this week when they wore our new school “Team CVPS” purple hoodies to the Cramlington tournament which took place on Thursday at Cramlington Learning Village. Well done to everyone for their positive attitude, great team spirit and passion to win for their school. Once again CVPS attracted compliments on the outstanding behaviour and sportsmanship! As always with our children, lots to be proud of!
Cycling to school
We actively encourage children to cycle to school, offering a cycle stand for bicycles to be padlocked onto. To be able to use this children need to wear a helmet on their way to school and have a padlock to secure their bike to the stand. It is not possible to leave cycles or scooters in the front entrance area as it represents a security risk to school as well as a health and safety risk.
PTA Chocolate Raffle
The PTA are fundraising with a chocolate raffle. Please bring donations of chocolate or Easter Eggs to the front of school. Raffle tickets will be on sale soon!
New website coming soon
We have been working hard to develop a new website that is accessible on smart phones and tablet technology. This is due to launch in a couple of weeks. There is an opportunity for a small number of parents to have a sneak preview to give feedback before we go live. If you are interested in this please send in an email to firstname.lastname@example.org or pop into the school office.
Class assembly for reception
Next Friday the 31st March we will be holding class assembly at 8.40 am once the children are dropped off. We’re looking forward to hearing about everything the children have been learning about Minibeasts.
Forthcoming class assemblies

Friday 5th May – class TBC

All class assemblies take place on Fridays at 8.40am straight after school drop off.
