Free Schools

Cramlington Village Primary School is a ‘free school’ - funded directly by the Department for Education and independent of the local authority.

Free schools are designed to deliver both a high quality education for children and meet the needs of modern-day parents.

Places at free schools are entirely free of charge. We developed our proposal for a free school in Cramlington after consulting hundreds of local parents.

At Cramlington Village Primary School we take advantage of our freedoms and choose support and training from a number of providers including North Tyneside and Gateshead’s School Improvement teams.

During the years since opening we have also developed a closer working relationship with Northumberland County Council and local schools.
