This week our classes have shown great enthusiasm for the usual wide range of activities and learning opportunities that take place. We are starting serious preparation for our end of term theatre productions and some children will have lines to practise, and costumes to source during the two week break. And so compulsory summer testing time begins…
Year 1 have been busy in forest school this week. You can see them completing a survey to find which flowering plants grow most on the field. They used a bar chart to determine that dandelions are most common, but also found slender speedwell, selfheal, common mouse-ear and wild sweet peas! They discussed how to make it a fair test and how to remove bias. Kirsten has also been doing some wonderful ‘Enormous Turnip’ learning in nursery this past couple of weeks! Y5 and Y6 showcased some of their learning about China at the very end of last term, with an amazing dragon dance, Chinese food tasters, and Chinese music and traditional tales. Well done for such a great showcase! You can see the dragon above! (more…)

This week saw the first Science Technology, Engineering and Maths (or STEM) week. The children have been inspired to plan and explore experiments; they have welcomed visitors into their classrooms and assemblies, and they have been hugely engaged in STEM activities.
