Our new school website goes live!

We are delighted that our new website has finally gone live this week.
The new website hosts all the previous information and will be able to be used on smart phones and tablets. There are some lovely images previously not seen – and we even have an updated video link which will be coming soon!

Newts in the pond join our animals at CVPS!

Our key stage 2 outdoor learning this week investigated the pond area and found some tiny newts. The children were very excited; they learned all about invertebrates, carnivores, omnivores and how to identify and classify them. They are looking forward to following the newts’ journey!

And we’ll be very surprised if parents of our early years children haven’t heard about the Evil Pea. Visitors into the classroom have had to dodge the crime scenes, the peas trapped in green slime (jelly!) and the Evil Pea traps, not to mention the ‘wanted’ posters for the Evil Pea.

CVPS Community Forest school day! Save the date!

Remember Saturday June 24th as our day for working on our outdoor areas between 9 and 1pm. Let’s hope for good weather!

Safety around school

We are privileged that many of our children conduct themselves so well in and around school. However we do ask the children to use their walking feet on the school pathways which can be busy at collection and drop off times. Also please ensure that children in early years line up on the tarmac areas when they arrive and do not use the outdoor equipment when staff are not there to supervise. It’s important that the school safety approaches with outdoor equipment are used at all times. Thank you for supporting us to keep children safe and equipment intact!

New Special Educational Needs Coordinator

We are delighted to have appointed Mrs Amanda Milligan as our new SENCO who will work 2 days a week purely on special educational needs next year. Amanda has worked at other Cramlington schools and is an exceptionally experienced teacher of all age groups. She will start to settle in from June before taking up her post in September.

Homework

Thanks to all parents for their support of their children with

this past two weeks. We have seen a marked increase in the quality of and commitment to homework. Many thanks!

Year 3 and Year 4 enjoyed a busy week too, with their visit to hear from the author David Almond to hear about how he is inspired to write his books, and some even ordered signed books to bring back. This was after a Tag rugby event for some of the children in the morning where they showed off their tag rugby skills. They were very tired at the end of a busy day.
