And it’s back to school busy-ness!

Lesson Visits

Sarah, Melissa and myself have all visited classes this week and been delighted to see the array of activities taking place across school in English and Mathematics. Our team of staff know the children’s needs exceptionally well and have certainly been busy creating interesting sessions of learning. Our early years children continue to settle well with two new children joining the ‘flock’ and you can see them concentrating carefully on hammering nails, rolling pizzas, exploring ‘magnetism’ and they were also listening to The Stick Man story.

Brittanica Quiz

Four children took part in a national quiz this week
‘zooming’ to be able to answer a range of questions based around their reading of the Brittanica magazine. They did exceptionally well, and we can’t wait to tell you the results when they come out tomorrow lunchtime.

Parent consultations (16th Nov)

Remember to check your email as all invites to attend the online parent consultations have been sent out. We are allocating ten minutes to each session. If you need more than this for any reason please let us know and staff will accommodate it when they can.
If you would like to speak to Melissa Costello as the school Special Educational Needs Coordinator, you can make an appointment to see Melissa at any time.

Nasal Flu Immunisations

These have taken place this week. Please check class Facebook pages for the updates for children whose parents have consented but who were unable to attend today’s visit.

Dates for the Diary

We are fast approaching the Christmas Season. Check the dates at the back of the newsletter for information about our traditional Carol Service, Learning Exhibition, and Family Christmas Lunches. These are all a great opportunity for us to connect. If parents can’t make all of them, other members of the family or friends are

Lyla’s garden

Over the past term, behind the scenes there has been lots happening with Lyla’s garden and we are excited to be able to share with you the first draft of the plan complete with a yellow brick road and also a rainbow feature.

A huge thanks to Luke Arend, who is qualified from the Royal Horticultural Society, and who has donated his time for this project.

Luke has asked if we are able to source any volunteer builders, joiners and landscapers, it would be a really welcome addition to the team for this worthwhile project.
Our aim is to be able to open the garden and have everything finished in time for what would have been Lyla’s 10th Birthday in February 23.

The end of my Era at CVPS

Please find attached to the email the newsletter comes on (and on the class Facebook pages) a letter from me to let you know about my resignation. Myself and the new interim principal, will work very hard to provide continuity and support that will enable a smooth transition and to continue the strong provision during the period of change between now and the end of April next year. I will sorely miss all of you as parents, and our staff team, but especially our delightful children.
More details can be seen in the letter.

Poppy God’s Eye – Remembrance Weekend
This weekend sees the remembrance parades and events. We would like you to have a go at making a poppy inspired craft known as Gods eyes. You do not have to use the red and black as any colour looks beautiful.
Here is a link to a tutorial to have a go at making Gods eyes – a lovely relaxing activity.
