Y5 and Y6 showcased some of their learning about China at the very end of last term, with an amazing dragon dance, Chinese food tasters, and Chinese music and traditional tales. Well done for such a great showcase! You can see the dragon above!

Our start to this term has been impressive with exciting activities working very well throughout school from the Jolly Postman’s letters in early years to shakespearean actors in Y5 and Y6. We are really excited to have started The Wind in The Willows project in Y3 and Y4. Key Stage 1 (Y1 and Y2) are off to the Tyne Theatre on Friday this week (today) to get some ideas about how to perform and to inspire drama skills. We hope your children have been sharing – and if not, the
facebook pages have some great photos on this week. Let your class teacher know if you haven’t yet got access.

We currently have Y4, Y5 and Y6 children on residential activities in the summer term. Please check payment schedule deadlines below. For families who may not be able to meet the payment deadlines please speak to myself or the school office. We will release places to other year groups if full costs are not paid by the dates below:

Y3/Y4 Robinwood payment deadline 30th April
Y5 London payment deadline 4th July
Y6 Paris deadline 13th June

Report from Y6 pupils Aiden, Ryan D, Ryan M and Eve about the Shakespearean workshop on Monday:

“On Monday a visitor called Richard talked to year 5 and 6 about William Shakespeare. He taught us about a play called Macbeth. He told us about all the characters and all the murders that happened. Some of it was a bit gruesome and gory! Then Richard picked out random people to be characters and if they died they had to sit on the ‘wall of death’. In the afternoon we worked on the start of the play. We found out to stand on stage in neutral position and how to stress different words. We pretended to have shields, swords and spears and practised attacking and blocking. Our performance was amazing and a bit spooky. So now we know how to perform our own play in July. “

Save the Date!

We have booked Blyth’s Phoenix Theatre for the day and evening on Thursday July 12th for the performances of our class developed plays at the end of this
term. We would love parents and families to be involved in supporting this exciting event. So if you’re handy and can help create costumes, backdrops, lighting,
props, please let your class teacher know. We hope to be able to invite as many of the children’s families and friends as we can! You may even see some of the staff in the performances!

Zambezi Sunrise Trust

We were delighted to welcome John to our assembly this morning to tell us how the £435 raised for the Linda Community school, has been spent. John presented us with letters for all the children in Y3 and Y4 from the children in Zambia. He also presented us with two amazing pictures created as gifts thanking us for our fundraising. We are so excited to be embarking on this wonderful opportunity to twin with another school developing learning links around the world. The next request is for us to send out our old school uniforms.
