Big Play Day at Cramlington Learning Village
Y5 and Y6 attended the CLV music festival this week and had an amazing time alongside children from five other primary schools. The children were put into instrumental sections (our children chose a mixture of voice, keyboard and guitar) and took part in intense rehearsals so that, by the end of the day, they were able to put on a concert that brought all of the students together as one big orchestra! Performance pieces included Don’t Stop Believin’, Pachelbel’s Canon, Hit the Road Jack, It Don’t Mean a Thing (If It Ain’t Got That Swing) and Blaydon Races. The children’s behaviour was outstanding, their musical skills shone, and they put on a fantastic show. Well done!

Phonics screener checks finished!
We are so proud of our pupils in Year 1 and Year 2 who have sat their phonic screener checks this week. We have achieved strong outcomes for them all with all the children making excellent progress. This year we have been really impressed with the support our children have had from home – as it has really impacted positively on moving children forward in their decoding (reading) skills. Children’s marks are shared with families on the end of year reports.

Our great performance “All the World’s a Stage” Thursday July 12th
We have now finalised our performances for Thursday the 12th July at The Phoenix Theatre Blyth – information for this exciting event is as follows:

Tickets
Two tickets will be sent out to all parents next week and are chargeable at £3 per person for the full day (the ticket will be eligible for use at all or one
of the day’s performances, depending which classes you have children in). Please pay for your child’s ticket using the envelope provided and return it to school as soon as possible via your class teachers so that we can keep track of numbers. If you would like more tickets they can be bought from the school office. There is currently no maximum number of tickets per family so if you need extra to the two you are allocated they will be sold on a first come first served basis from the school office. We are delighted that the space in the theatre means that we will be able to have a really special performance area without restrictions on numbers. We are also inviting others in the community including the residents of Hartford Court who have been working with the early years team as well as local councillors,
governors and other educational professionals who have been associated with the school over the past few years. We will be unable to allow photographs (as usual) so please enjoy the show without worrying about recording or photographing! See the table below for the times the children are at the theatre and when they can be collected.

Children under school age
Due to the layout of the theatre and the nature of some of the performances it is not suitable for children under school age to be in the audience. We appreciate that this might present problems for some parents but ask that you seek alternative childcare arrangements for this one occasion to allow our children to perform without distractions.

Performance times for Thursday the 12th July

Please note these performances are unsuitable for children under school age.

Transport to Blyth’s Phoenix Theatre
We will have a limited number of places available on the bus for children’s families if they do not have alternative transport arrangements to get to Blyth. All hildren who go to the Phoenix Theatre will be brought back to school after their performances. Only those children in Y3, Y4, Y5 and Y6 can be collected directly from the theatre at 3.30 if preferred.

Learning around school this week…
Louise’s class has been heavily involved in black bean cookies (!) and preparing for Father’s day as you can see from their baking photos below. There have also been some windy day activities on Thursday during forest school as Y1 made kites and flew them in the field! And our Y3s have been working on how to tell the time
using analogue clock faces!

Key Stage 2 Sports Day
Friday 22nd June 9.45am

Our sports day takes place next Friday 22nd June for Y3, Y4, Y5 and Y6. (other classes on Friday 29th June)

Please ensure that the children all have correct PE kit and appropriate trainers or sand shoes for their running races. Class races take place from 11.15ish and as always the ever popular parent’s races will take place at the end! (Please wear appropriate shoes too!)

In the event of inclement weather we will notify parents on the morning and this year due to a very busy diary with two year groups on residentials, we do not have a reserve date. Fingers crossed for good weather!

Multi Skills festival
This takes place on Wednesday the 20th June at school and will be facilitated by local sports partnership personnel alongside our Y5 sports leaders. This year our
PE and sports offer has been exceptionally strong and we appreciate the work Nicole Weatheritt has done for this which we are hoping will be recognised soon as part of the Sports award.

Y5/Y6 Residential Trips
Please remember to bring in your money for the trip to Paris and London as both costs are now due.
