School Newsletter

This week our classes have shown great enthusiasm for the usual wide range of activities and learning opportunities that take place. We are starting serious preparation for our end of term theatre productions and some children will have lines to practise, and costumes to source during the two week break. Thank you for your support for this. But not only have we been making our plans come to fruition, we also managed a Tag Rugby event represented by every class across KS2,
whilst two representatives from Y6 visited Cramlington Learning Village to be involved in a video that will be played to all the children across Cramlington, as they prepare to move to secondary school this summer. To top it all the school enjoyed a week of mindfulness activities as you will see from the photos above.

GDPR
As you will know the new GDPR regulations come into effect today. Copies of the changes have been emailed out to all parents on the email list. Please check the privacy notice on the school website for further information about our GDPR compliance.

Communication with parents
At CVPS we pride ourselves on ensuring our staff are available to communicate with parents and carers through a variety of ways. This allows us to resolve potential issues as quickly as possible. However increasingly over recent weeks a very small minority of parents, appear to contact staff (either on school email addresses, or facebook messaging for example) and expect a response almost immediately outside of working hours and term times. Some ask for meetings at the start of the
school day at 8.30am on an evening before or even an early morning email. This impacts significantly on staff time and compromises school routines and children’s learning entitlements if appointments are not at mutually convenient times. We would politely ask that parents respect the direct access to school staff, and if meetings are required, they always take place after school or are taken to the school office who can coordinate appointments and escalate to leaders in school when
necessary. Staff entitlement to privacy and to a healthy work life balance is important to us. Our teaching team is committed, dedicated and professional and we are privileged as a school to have such passionate, child-centred individuals leading the children’s learning. Please don’t hesitate to check with the school office if messages about the children are likely to take more than just a few words when handing the children over at the start of the day, and you would like information passed to class teachers. Thank you for your understanding in this.

Happy half term!
We wish everyone a restful and hopefully a sunny half term break and look forward to the final half term of the academic year starting on Monday June 11th. Well done too for a great half term and fantastic improvements in attendance and punctuality recently! Thanks to everyone for all your support.

Class mindfulness
This week the classes have been using a range of techniques to support the children with mindfulness and the ability to focus on their mental health. This has included watching and listening to apps, yoga activities and circle times that support discussions about mental health and what it means. We hope you like seeing Y1/2 in the pictures!

Tag Rugby delights KS2
Well done to those selected to represent CVPS in the Tag Rugby festivals across Key Stage 2. We were so proud of the excellent sportsmanship shown by pupils
from CVPS, and although we didn’t get placed this time out of the 20 teams that were there, the children really enjoyed a great experience.

Welcome to new parents
Nearly all parents of the new reception children came to meet the staff and hear all about reception routines on Tuesday this week at CVPS. It was a wonderful opportunity to meet many new families who will be joining our school in September this year.

Y5/Y6 Residential Trips
Please remember to bring in your money for the trip to Paris or London by Weds 13th June.
