Tag rugby success at the end of a busy half term! We were delighted not only with the competitive outcomes of the two groups that represented CVPS this week at the Tag Rugby competitions, but also with the excellent sportsmanship demonstrated by the children. Year 5/6 showed a huge passion for the sport, achieving 3rd place in a competition with 16 teams! Then Y3/4 made it to the final from a similar number. Both teams received compliments from other adults at the competitions about the great sportsmanship our children showed too. Thanks to Nicole Weatheritt and Michael Mullaghan for organising and Connor’s Dad, Arron for the coaching support! Well done CVPS teams!

School Reports
Following the highly positive feedback from families about the layout and presentation of the end of year reports last year we are continuing with the same format and staff will be working hard over the coming weeks to prepare them. We would like to offer school reports electronically this year. This is in response to parental requests so that the reports can be shared by families more easily, with extended family, and can be kept easier in electronic formats as a keepsake. Please let the school office know if you would like a hard copy as well.
Your school report will also include statutory assessment information for EYFS end of key stage, phonics screener, Y2 Sats outcomes and Y6 teacher assessments. Full results for Y6 are not due out from the DfE until July when written results will be shared with pupils.
Parent drop in
Next half term school leaders will be hosting Wednesday morning parent drop ins at the start of the school day from 8.30 to 9am. No appointment is needed. If you would like to give any informal feedback about the school, or bring ideas for future developments please let us know over a hot drink!
These sessions are not for any specific issues, as we won’t be able to discuss individual children’s issues in depth, but if you would value the opportunity of sharing feedback about CVPS please pop in and see us!
Ashleigh’s outdoor idea…
This week we have been discussing dandelions. Please can you research a fact about dandelions and let me know what you have found in Forest School.
Dates for the diary
Please remember to check the diary dates at the back of the newsletter. We have added the theatre productions, the dates for school reports to be issued, and there is an opportunity on Friday the 28th June from 1-2.30pm to come and see the children’s books, take a look around the rest of the school, visit your child’s next class and teacher and ask any informal questions about your child’s end of year report.
Paris Trip for Y5/6
We are excited that some of the final plans are currently awaiting approval by governors. Once approved we will arrange to meet with parents and share the details. Please remember that the full payments for the trip to Paris should be received by school by the 7th June 2019. This is during the school holiday and so bank transfers or parent pay will be used for collecting the payments.
We are so proud that we are able to offer this opportunity at such reduced rates – one of only a small number of schools in Cramlington who offer a residential trip abroad!
