School Newsletter

Oracy training talks about talk … ooh and listening too! This week we welcomed Luke Arend in to Thursday’s Forest School to start working in the garden outdoor area with pupils from Y6. Luke will be coming in to work with us in the future on our Forest School garden area. He has lots of exciting plans, and has come highly recommended having just qualified from the Royal Horticultural Society. We are looking into applying for a gardening competition next
year – more news soon!

Y5 and Y6 enjoyed a fabulous time on their visit last week to Carlisle, where they worked together to create automatas and viewed the fairground exhibition. They were inspired to create some amazing devices – and were really enthused by the workshop. Enjoy the photos below.

Harvest Tues 15th Oct

Please save the date of 15th October to be able to come along to our annual harvest festival at St Nicholas Church in Cramlington. Children look forward to this special event when there’s an opportunity to see and hear what they have been learning about why it’s good to be thankful! Donations of tins, cans and packets of food are welcome in school.

ASDA tokens …

Thanks to everyone who has put a token (or more!) into Asda Cramlington’s community award scheme. For the first time since it started we are no longer in the lead!!! Please ask family
and friends to donate to Asda to get our tokens to move back into first position – only 11 days left!

Training day update

Thanks to everyone who remembered that training day was this Wednesday – our staff teaching team were able to spend time hearing about the pedagogy (theory of learning) about speaking and
listening (oracy). We collected lots of ideas on how to teach it explicitly and through other subjects! Be prepared to hear from your children about how much more talk (and listening) they
are doing, as they are taking it on with great enthusiasm – as they always do!

School start times

Please remember school starts at 8.30am when children go into classes and have work at the very start of the day. Gates open at 8.20 daily. A huge thank you for supporting fantastic attendance and punctuality at school. Last year our attendance overall in school was 97% which puts us into
the top 20% of schools nationally.

Attendance and Punctuality

  • YR 97%(4)
  • Y1 96%(1)
  • Y2 100%(2)
  • Y3 96%(0)
