School Newsletter

A week of excitement! Inventors, Museums and Zambia. This week Y1, 2 and 3 visited the Great North Museum to research and investigate animals and rocks. Impeccable behaviour, focussed enthusiasm for learning and a greater understanding of animal life and rocks made it a day to remember. Well done to everyone and thanks to the parents who came along to support. Ethan from Y5 visited Tees Valley alongside 14 other finalists from the region for the Little Inventors competition. Ethan impressed everyone there with his enthusiasm, articulacy and great engagement, proving to be the perfect ambassador for CVPS. We are all really proud of him and can’t wait to see the creation of a prototype of his ‘poo generated energy device’.

We are especially proud that Ethan is the second national finalist in that class, after Niamh’s success in the 500 words competition last year! Our CVPS pupils truly rock!

Zambezi Sunrise Trust news

We were also delighted this week to receive photos of pupils in the Linda Community School in Zambia who have been reading letters sent over from Y5. We also got to see the classroom our monies funded. We plan to continue fundraising for the school and have afternoon teas planned for each class in the summer term! A huge thank you to everyone who has contributed to supporting this very worthwhile charity.

Year 4 have been excited to be experimenting in their science activities this week

Parent governor role

We have another week before the deadline (7th February) for parent governor applications. The information was emailed to all parents last Friday. If you would like a hard copy, or would like to chat to Debbie Wylie about the role, please speak to the school office.

Structured Conversations

If you are part of the structured conversation programme, you will be receiving feedback and a chance to catch up over the next few weeks. If you are not on this programme, and
have anything you would like to speak to your child’s class teachers about in relation to your child’s learning please touch base with them. We regularly monitor their learning and are delighted with the progress being made by the vast majority of pupils at CVPS. So unless you hear from us, all is going very well as you will know from the book look last half term.

Teacher moderation event

Teachers at CVPS never work in isolation, so this week we arranged to moderate or ‘sense-check’ the assessments we allocate to children’s writing. The team from West Newcastle Academy came over to visit and were able to share great practice between the two schools. Photos at the end …
