Christmas dinners nearly for everyone!

Our annual family Christmas dinner was better than ever this year with an amazing 90% turnout for Y2-Y6 this week. Children enjoyed the festive feast with families and listened to Christmas music with their Christmassy jumpers and festive accessories.

Huge thanks to Chef Lynn and Nicola for their hard work. It was Chef Lynn’s very first CVPS Christmas experience and she definitely did us all proud!

Early years and Year 1 have their turn next Wednesday – we know you’re going to love it and look forward to seeing you. Please ensure tickets are bought by the end of Monday as some children were disappointed today when we had to change seating plans around at short notice. This has been something we want to avoid in the future.

Year 3 and Year 4 take over at Woodhorn

Next Wednesday the 13th December Year 3 and 4 will be taking over Woodhorn Colliery to exhibit their work from their ‘Who do we think we are?’ topic this term. Everyone is invited to come along to this, bringing younger siblings if they wish. Some residents from the care homes are expected to come too. In the afternoon as a reward for all their hard work the children are going to have a turn on the ice rink to practise their (safe) skating skills! We look forward to the photos next week!

We really appreciate parental understanding of the need to cancel our extra curricular clubs in EYFS and Year 1 and Year 2 this week. This was due to exceptional staff absence for compassionate reasons as well as illness. We are delighted that most of our team are back to being (more!) healthy now and wish those who are still recovering all the best.

Family Christmas dinner

Weds 13th Dec EYFS and Y1. Tickets from the school office. Lunch starts at 11.45am. Adults tickets £6 each.

Carol Services this Tuesday

Children Y3-Y6 can be collected after the service in the afternoon and those uncollected will come back to school as usual.

NSPCC e-safety for parents

We have booked a parent workshop for online e-safety for all parents across school on Thursday the 8th March at 2.30pm.

Extra Curricular Clubs in the last week

Please note that from Monday the 18th December there will be no clubs for EYFS and KS1 that week. Please collect the children from 2.30pm. KS2 will have lessons as usual until 3.30pm.

Our Commemorative Book

We have really enjoyed leaving a real legacy for the local community with the publication of our book ‘Who do we think we are?’. We still have a few copies of the book if parents would like to buy extra copies for family and friends. £4 per copy available from the school office.

Staff Changes

From the new year Jenna Tudor will be taking up a post in Y6 as a Higher Level Assistant Teacher. Jenna knows CVPS very well as she has a daughter in Ashleigh’s class. Gemma Mason also returns from maternity leave in January – we are really excited to have Gemma back too. Kirsty Dickinson also joins Ashleigh’s class as an assistant teacher after a successful placement. Also sadly Danielle King in Year 4 has answered a mercy mission to teach Arabic to a family of children who have moved to a new school in Newcastle. Miss King’s last day with us was Thursday. We wish her well in her new role.
